Ewa och Kristina på Crearum: En god idé är en idé som svarar mot ett behov

Crearum är en av projektparterna i projektet Accelerera som projektleds av FPX. Ewa Swensson och Kristina Svenningsson berättar om vad de sysslar med och hur de kommer att kunna bidra i projektet för att hjälpa kommuner att accelerera sin innovationsförmåga. 

Det hela började egentligen med att Linköpings universitet ville ha en plats där akademi skulle kunna möta näringslivet, innovera och hitta nya lösningar. Den platsen fick namnet Crearum. Verksamheten knoppades senare av och företaget drivs idag av Ewa Swensson och Kristina Svenningsson som erbjuder sina kunder hjälp med strukturerat innovationsarbete och att öka sin innovationsförmåga.

Ewa och Kristina, vad är egentligen en god idé?
– En god idé är en idé som svarar mot ett behov, säger Kristina. Det kan vara svar på en utmaning eller en möjlighet.
– Ofta har man kanske redan en idé, men den håller inte hela vägen, fyller Ewa i. En god idé kräver bearbetning. Goda idéer utvecklas nästan alltid tillsammans, där man får in flera olika perspektiv och efter ett visst nötande.

Vad är då innovation?
– Det är en god idé som har sprungit ur insikter om ett behov, är nytt för verksamheten och som har kommit till användning och därmed skapar ett värde. Det behöver ju inte vara en produkt eller tjänst som ska säljas, utan det kan ju handla om att man sparar pengar eller tid till exempel genom nya sätt att arbeta eller skapa en attraktiv användarupplevelse.

Innovation i offentlig sektor
På Crearum har man lång erfarenhet av att arbeta med kommuner och kommunalt ägda företag inom området innovationsarbete. De båda menar att rollen för offentliga verksamheter i innovationsekosystemet skiljer sig jämfört med industrier och verksamheter.
– Alla utmaningar och möjligheter kräver nytänkande. Men man är kanske inte uppfinnare av påhittiga lösningar inom offentlig sektor utan det handlar snarare om att utveckla metoder och arbetssätt för att arbeta smartare, vara mer effektiv sin leverans mot medborgarna, eller till exempel arbeta gemensamt mot hållbarhetsmålen. Man kan vara en skicklig beställare av innovativa lösningar och vara tydlig med att formulera behov. Innovation i kommuner kan till exempel resultera i tjänster, produkter eller beteenden. Alla verksamheter behöver hitta effektiva arbetssätt och i det har digitaliseringen en viktig roll och det är också förändrings- och innovationsdrivande.  Man kan också driva komplexa frågor på ett innovativt sätt som en enskild aktör inte klarar av.

Det är inte heller alltid offentlig sektors ”kunder” som styr behoven som hos verksamheter i näringslivet, utan behoven kopplar snarare till samhällsutmaningarna som vi måste lösa tillsammans.
– Det handlar i högre grad om att locka med sig ”kunderna” in i detta. De här samhällsutmaningarna som måste adresseras kring till exempel klimatfrågor eller energieffektiviseringar handlar i grunden om att få folk att ändra beteenden.

Agenda 2030 är något de flesta kommuner arbetar mot, men det är inte självklart hur det ska gå till.
–De övergripande målen i Agenda 2030 är på rädda världen-nivå, och det går naturligtvis inte att komma på en enda unik lösning på det, säger Kristina. Men om man tittar på de lite mer konkreta undermålen, då kan man få det till en greppbar nivå, översätta det till sin egen verksamhet och använda det som underlag för att utveckla den egna innovationsförmågan.

Vad sker i en organisation när ni kommer in för att hjälpa dem med sitt innovationsarbete?
­– Ska vi prata innovationsstrategi med en kommun måste vi börja med att fråga vad deras mål är. Ska de bli innovativa i hur de tar till sig nya lösningar, ska de bli duktiga innovationsbeställare eller finns det någon typ av problem eller utmaning som ska lösas?
– Oavsett så behöver de alltid kunskap. Vi går igenom terminologi, frågeställningar och begrepp. Därefter är det lämpligt att gå igenom var man står, vad man kan och vilka kompetenser och insikter som saknas i en nulägesanalys. Utifrån den gör vi sedan en handlingsplan. Då brukar det nästan alltid handla om att ledningen behöver kunskap, att man måste gå igenom sina strategiska frågor, det behöver utses innovationsledare och man behöver lära sig metoder för insiktsarbete och idéarbete.
–Vi kopplar alltid lärandet till en reell möjlighet eller utmaning, konkreta saker som verksamheten ändå måste få gjorda. Så de tränar skarpt, får fram resultat och ökar sitt lärande samtidigt.

Arbetet med kommunprojekten
I Accelereraprojektet kommer man också arbeta enligt den strukturen mot kommunprojekten.
– När vi har genomlyst och diskuterat med kommunprojekten får vi en bild av den kompetens de redan har, och vilka behov som finns, förklarar Kristina. Många har redan kommit långt genom tidigare aktiviteter och projekt. Det brukar ändå ofta visa sig att man behöver mer kunskap i vissa delar av innovationsarbetet, att man vill få hjälpa att sprida effektiva arbetssätt eller engagera ledningspersoner. Vi ska ju tillsammans med våra partners i konsortiet hjälpa till att accelerera förmågan till transformation

När det gäller Accelereraprojektet – Vad är huvuduppgiften de närmaste två åren?
– Vi är ju i en utvecklingsprocess, men vi tror att det kommer att handla om vi tillsammans i konsortiet skapar ett utbildningspaket, metoder och verktyg som kan hjälpa till att hantera de utmaningar som kommunerna står inför, framför allt med fokus på de samhälls- och hållbarhetsutmaningar som föreligger.
– Dessa samhällsutmaningar involverar många olika organisationer, kommuner och verksamheter, och det kräver att man samarbetar. Samtidigt har vi också den speciella styrrningen och organiseringen i offentlig verksamhet att ta hänsyn till. Det är något som inte riktigt finns med i de innovationsstöd som finns på marknaden idag eller fullt ut tas hänsyn till  i ISO-standarden, menar Ewa.

ISO-standarden 56002 för innovationsledning som hon nämner är en ryggrad i projektet. I projektet ska man använda de metoder och verktyg som redan finns i standarden och applicera dem på komplexa frågor drivna av offentlig sektor.
– Men vi kommer att behöva utveckla dem. Det är en viktig anledning till att vi har skapat konsortiet med så många djupa och kompletterande kompetenser.

Vad tror ni om mottagandet i kommunerna?
– Vi vet att det är efterfrågat, annars skulle VINNOVA inte ha gjort utlysningen och vi skulle inte ha projektet Accelerera. Vi hoppas att man kommer att se att Accelerera kommer att utgöra en hjälp i att skapa struktur och trygghet i ett förändringsarbete där det krävs nya lösningar och en tranformativ omställning.
